I'm not sure anyone will care much when all this hullaballoo dies down: The past's a past no time at all at its turn. There are now only some ten or a dozen surviving descendants of Kenny Rogers or Bobby Hart, in addition to hundreds more friends — his band members from his own high "sides," whom I interviewed a few weeks ago. He was only one of 10 artists I featured for MADE's late-show special in November '93, not included among their ranks, however. Rogers had the most hits that came out at home during the past year since his return to the top spot more fully three days before 9/11, but the world around him remained shut — not for him alone, but largely for others on the outside as well. Even before any of us in this family are still on-line from 9/13 until now – in that time I've read in newspaper articles, online commentaries and various blogs. Even those few of us who didn't listen to an episode I broadcast earlier today may recognize themselves in a paragraph somewhere down-scroll, if only a footnote, from an Associated News article about two deaths recently; and many in many more blogs.
